Petty Officer 2nd Class Harold D. Sylvester tests samples of water to ensure it is safe for drinking Feb. 17 at Ban Chan Krem, Kingdom of Thailand, during exercise Cobra Gold 2013. Testing samples of drinking water is just one of the many duties Sylvester does to ensure the health and safety of Marines and sailors. Sylvester is a hospital corpsman and preventative medicine technician with Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, which is attached to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, as part of the Marine Corps’ unit deployment program. U.S. involvement in Cobra Gold 13 demonstrates commitment to building military-to-military interoperability with participating nations and to supporting peace and stability in the region.
