U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Joshua K. Bechel, a combat engineer with Mobility Assault Company, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, rappels down a cliff during a static cliff rappelling event as part of a two-day rappel training exercise at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Oct. 16, 2024. The exercise trained Marines to become proficient in rope systems, high-angle rappelling, expedient rope bridging, and engineer reconnaissance in adverse terrain. Bechel is a native of Wisconsin.
