World War II Veterans observe the Ticker Tape Parade in Maastricht, Netherlands, September 12, 2024. The name Ticker Tape Parade comes from the old practice of using ticker tape (the paper trip from a stock ticker machine) to shower onto parade participants as they move through the streets. The Ticker Tape Parade is held to commemorate World War II Veterans who liberated the city of Maastricht on September 14, 1944, during Operation Market Garden. (U.S. Army photo by Spc.
