Lt. Gen. Sean Bernabe, Deputy Commanding General for United States Army Europe-Africa, looks upon a Patriot launcher during a visit to the U.S. Army Patriot site in southeast Poland on Sep. 4. Brig. Gen. Curtis King, Commanding General of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, provided a briefing on the site’s current operations and mission readiness. The Patriot missile system is a purely a defensive weapon system. This system is capable of defense against both ballistic and cruise-type missiles and aircraft. They can perform high and low altitude surveillance, target detection, target discrimination, target identification, target track, interceptor track, and interceptor guidance.
