The U.S. Navy Honor Guard renders honors to the flag during U.S. Navy Mess Attendant 3rd Class David Walker's funeral at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C., Sept. 5, 2024. Walker was assigned to the battleship USS California, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. The USS California sustained multiple torpedo and bomb hits, which caused it to catch fire and slowly flood. The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 103 crewmen. Walker was accounted for on Nov. 27, 2023 and returned to his family for burial with full military honors. (U.S. Army Photo by Sgt. 1st Class Robert Duran)
