Full depth reclamation, FDR, was recently used during a paving project at the parking lot of building 676 at Arnold Air Force Base, headquarters of Arnold Engineering Development Complex. After removing the asphalt, base civil engineers found that there was no subgrade. By using FDR, engineers were able to recycle a full thickness of asphalt pavement and a portion of the underlying materials to create a new, stabilized base layer.
