EAST JAVA, INDONESIA (September 4, 2024) U.S. Navy Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Airmen Nathaniel Smith assigned to the air department of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD20) stands by in support of an Indonesia National Armed Forces AS565 Panther helicopter during a cross-deck flight operation. This exercise was conducted to enhance interoperability between Singaporean, Indonesian and U.S. ships. Super Garuda Shield is an annual exercise that has significantly grown in scope and size since 2009. Super Garuda Shield 2024 is the third consecutive time this exercise has grown into a combined and joint event, focused on commitment to partnership and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
