U.S. Air Force Tech Sgt. Lydia Pugh, 56th Fighter Wing Organizational Culture coordinator, encourages attendees to read There from the Beginning: Women in the US Air Force by Marissa Kester at a Women’s Equality Day event, Aug. 26, 2024, at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. Within the military, the fight for women's equality has moved forward through equal pay and access to previously closed military occupations, but women still face discrimination and bias that constrains innovation and creates competitive disadvantages. By honoring the contributions of women in the Air Force and fostering a diverse and excellent environment, this event plays a key role in enhancing the quality of life for Luke AFB and their families.
