U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Devann Jordan, independent duty medical technician and short term individual augment (STIA), Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), wet screens material during recovery operations in England, August 04, 2024. The daily recovery operations that each member cycles through for the 24-1GB team include loading material into buckets, utilizing the low-pressure water system, wet screening material, and collecting possible osseous material and life support equipment under the guidance of the SRE and LSI. DPAA and it’s STIA’s from U.S. Army and Air Force units; 1st and 10th Cavalry Regiment, 91st Brigade Engineer Battalion, 786th Civil Engineering Squadron, 86th Dental Squadron, 606th Air Control Squadron, 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs, 52nd Medical Group combine their knowledge and skills to propel progress in achieving the fullest possible accounting during the 60+ day recovery mission. There are currently approximately more than 72,000 U.S. personnel unaccounted-for from World War II in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and the surrounding European and Mediterranean area.
