Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Col. Koutaro Nakamura, the commanding officer of Southwest Island Logistics Support Unit, Western Army, awards a coin to U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Christian Mendoza Jr., an administrative specialist with Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group (MLG) during exercise Resolute Dragon 24 at Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan, August 6, 2024. 3rd MLG held a coin ceremony in order to recognize the hard work and dedication of Marines and JGSDF members participating in RD 24. RD 24 is an annual bilateral exercise in Japan that strengthens the command, control, and multi-domain maneuver capabilities of U.S. Marines in III Marine Expeditionary Force and Japan Self-Defense Force personnel, with a focus on controlling and defending key maritime terrain.
