Spc. Benjamin Hamel, from Bangor, Maine, Troop C, 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, is awarded an Army Commendation Medal by Col. Wayne W. Grigsby, Jr., from Prince George's County, Md., commander of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team April 15 at Combat Outpost Cashe, Iraq. Hamel is responsible for leading fellow Soldiers while digging up weapons during the excavation of a cache found April 14 in Tameem.
