Capt. Patrick Brito, the Charlie troop commander with 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, discusses the engagement sequence with Col. Matthew Scher, the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade commander before a long planned, live fire sinking exercise (SINKEX) off the coast of Kauai during Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024, July 11. 25th CAB participated in the SINKEX alongside the 3rd and 1st Multi-Domain Task Force, 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment, and the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force. Each SINKEX is conducted in strict compliance with applicable U.S. environmental laws, regulations, and permit requirements to minimize potential environmental harm. Twenty-nine nations, 40 surface ships, three submarines, 14 national land forces, more than 150 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC in and around the Hawaiian Islands, June 27 to Aug. 1. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2024 is the 29th exercise in the series that began in 1971. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Perla Alfaro, 3rd Multi-Domain Task Force)
