SAN DIEGO (July 8, 2024) Newly promoted Cmdr. Hunter Coates takes the podium to thank attendees at his promotion ceremony. A native of Maryland and Virginia, Coates began his military career in 1997 when he enlisted as an electronics technician. After completing “A” school and Airport Surveillance Radar “C” school, Coates reported to Naval Air Station North Island to serve as a radar technician within the Ground Electronics Division. In his current role, Coates serves as Naval Health Research Center's (NHRC) director for administration. NHRC supports military mission readiness with research and development that delivers high-value, high-impact solutions to the health and readiness challenges our military population faces on the battlefield, at sea, on foreign shores and at home.
