U.S. Air Force Col. Robert Rayner, 435th Contingency Response Group commander, presents Lt. Col. Grant Harwell, 435th Construction and Training Squadron outgoing commander, the meritorious award for his achievements as the former 435th CTS commander at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, June 25, 2024. The 435th CRG is U.S. Air Forces in Europe - Air Forces Africa's only expeditionary open-the-base force. The group provides a scalable, cross-functional, rapidly deployable force designed to assess and open air bases to perform initial airfield operations enabling rapid standup of combat operations anywhere in the European Command’s area of expertise.
