U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Christopher Zincke, a combat graphics specialist with Security Battalion, places the blood stripe on Cpl. Keahi Soomanstanton, an Arkansas native and combat videographer with Security Battalion, during a promotion ceremony on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, June 12, 2024. Soomanstanton was meritoriously promoted to the rank of corporal, the first non-commissioned officer rank. Col. Michael Brooks, the commander of MCBQ, selected Soomanstanton out of the other competitors for this meritorious promotion for his conduct and professionalism outside of his daily responsibilities, like volunteerism, alongside his commitment to better himself as a Marine.
