The memorial was built in 1948 to honor Allied servicemen who died in two separate C-47 crashes near Magneville in June 1944. Todays military remains forever indebted to World War II veterans for demonstrating the selfless service and sacrifice that characterize the Greatest Generation in defense of global peace and collective values.
