John Beyrle, former U.S. Ambassador to Russia and son of WWII veteran Joe Beyrle, his sister-in-law, Kathy Alward and Jean-Pierre L’honneur, the Mayor of Carentan, France, unveil the plaque renaming a street in Saint-Côme-du-Mont, France in honor of his father "Rue Joe Beyrle" June 3, 2024 in Saint-Côme-du-Mont, France. "Jumpin" Joe Beyrle was part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, during WWII and famously landed on top of the church in Saint-Côme-du-Mont while parachuting in during the Jumps on D-Day.
