JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON – (May 16, 2024) – U.S. Navy Lt. Lia Toader, Medical Service Corps (MSC), joined by her daughter and sister, is piped ashore during her retirement ceremony held at the Fort Sam Houston Golf Club. Toader, of Transylvania, Romania, enlisted in the Navy in July 2004 and was commissioned an ensign via the In-service Procurement Program in March 2012. Prior to serving as the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute’s (DMRTI) chief operations officer, Toader served as the department head, TRICARE Operations Office and regional legal investigator, Naval Hospital Naples, Italy. DMRTI is a Tri-Service organization under the Defense Health Agency (DHA) staffed by U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force professionals. Located on Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Fort Sam Houston, DMRTI offers both resident and non-resident joint medical readiness training courses as well as professional medical programs.
