U.S. Air Force A1C Trevor Mele, 354th Fighter Wing air traffic control apprentice, encountered an Italian Air Force member with the same last name during Red Flag-Alaska 24-1, at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Mele’s family is originally from Valsinni Italy and his great grandfather moved to the United States in 1903.
