    Marine Corps Installations Command

George E. Berger, Emergency Dispatch Services Program Manager, Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM), accepts the DoD “Spirit of Service” Award from Lt. Gen. Gregg P. Olson, Director, Marine Corps Staff, and Jennifer C. Walsh, Performance Improvement Officer and Director of Administration & Management, on Thursday, May 9, 2024. The "Spirit of Service" Award is presented to outstanding civilian employees who display the core qualities of honor, integrity, and excellence in their everyday service to the DoD. Mr. Berger has been instrumental in the Marine Corps' transition to Next Generation 9-1-1, which allows individuals to communicate with emergency dispatch services via voice, text, or multi-media, bringing a significant improvement to MCICOM's Installation Protection portfolio and incident response support for the Marine Corps community aboard installations.

MCICOM exercises command and control of Marine Corps installations via regional commanders in order to provide oversight, direction and coordination of installation services and to optimize support to the Operating Forces, tenants and activities. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Matthew Wright)
