U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Grant Hoogendoorn, avionics flight line technician, assigned to the 114th Fighter Wing Maintenance Group, uses a virtual reality headset to conduct ‘safe for maintenance’ aircraft training using the Virtual Hangar virtual reality system during May’s unit training assembly at Joe Foss Field, May 5, 2024. By using the VR systems, maintenance personnel at the wing can practice crucial tasks in a controlled environment without requiring the actual presence of jets, inherently reducing the risks involved with equipment and personnel safety.
