Congrats Shop 38 – Safety Flag Winner!
Congratulations to NNSY’s Outside Machine Shop (Shop 38), winner of the Dec. 2023 Safety Flag presented March 13! The shop had no injuries or lost workday cases for the month. “You have taken safety as a personal goal every day, both for yourself and the person beside you,” said Code 938 Group Superintendent Keyonia Smith at the presentation. Smith recognized Shop 38 members Cody Waller, Clement Foston, and Charles Nicholson with certificates of appreciation for their extra efforts in contributing to a safer workplace. “Well done and congratulations!” Shipyard Commander Captain Jip Mosman told shop members. “Safety is not a priority, it’s a prerequisite—that means giving you time to safely prepare to go execute. And with the importance of what we do, and the demand signal being very high, a prerequisite to doing it right is doing it safely.
