Two horse-mounted cavalry historic reenactors post on Red Cloud Range at Fort Moore, Ga., April 27, 2024, during Operation Thunderstrike, a live fire demonstration featuring tanks, Strykers, mortars, drones, and Bradleys. The U.S. Cavalry was historically a horse-mounted force that played a significant role in the American Revolutionary War and every major subsequent war in which the United States was involved through 1942. Operation Thunderstrike, the kick off to Armor Week 2024, is the first in a series of spectator events during the Sullivan Cup, an armor competition that will determine the best Abrams tank and Bradley Fighting Vehicle crews in the world.
