A Japan Self-Defense (JSDF) servicemember showcases his dive equipment to U.S. Marines with Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, during a JSDF equipment exchange for Exercise Beach Crab 24 at Kin Blue Beach Training Area, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 29, 2024. Beach Crab 24 is a combined-joint exercise between explosive ordnance disposal technicians from the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, and JSDF. This exercise focuses on building and refining bi-lateral tactics, techniques and procedures in an effort to locate, mark and neutralize underwater explosive ordnance hazards which culminates with the ability to perform explosive hazard mitigation actions from maritime environments to a beach landing site.
