A prototype of the wearable ultrasound intracranial pressure monitor invented by Col. Tyler Harris of Womack Army Medical Center and Maj. Jason Perez of Irwin Army Community Hospital, developed with the support of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command’s Medical Technology Transfer Office, is shown being tested on a model eye. The tests demonstrated that the device provided highly accurate measurements of the model’s optic nerve sheath diameter, which could someday lead to a portable device for diagnosing head trauma that can be used in the field by non-specialists.
