Smoke from the liquid oxygen surround Lance Cpl. Alexander Guajardo, a cryogenic technician with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14, as he works on filling a 50-gallon tank outside the cryogenics compound at Cherry Point Jan. 22. “After filling a tank with liquid oxygen, we cannot go near anything that could spark,” said Guajardo. “We are working with 99.5 percent pure oxygen one little spark and we would be up in flames.”
