    Japan Ground Self Defense Force Sgt. First Class, Taiki Higashi, Master Sgt. Tomoya Tasaki, a joint traffic air control instructor and Master Sgt. Takayuki Shimzu, all with Fire Leading Company, Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade, track targets through a spotter scope, in the supporting arms virtual trainer during exercise Iron Fist on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 29, 2024. The SAVT provides a fixed institutional high-fidelity immersive training capability that will train indirect fire, call for fire, and Type I, II, and III close air support. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, JGSDF and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
