    Arctic Edge 2024

U.S. Navy sailors, hospital corpsmen with 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, transport a casualty half a mile on foot to a medical tent during a mass casualty drill in arctic conditions as part of exercise Arctic Edge 2024 (AE24) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, March 5, 2024. The sailors executed the MARCH trauma assessment, addressing Massive Hemorrhage, Airway Management, Respiration, Circulation, and Hypothermia/Head. As an integral part of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), this protocol ensures a systematic and prioritized response to combat injuries, enhancing the chances of survival and effective treatment in the field—a crucial capability in the challenging arctic environment. Arctic Edge 2024 is a U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise demonstrating the U.S. military’s capabilities in extreme cold weather, joint force readiness, and U.S. military commitment to mutual strategic security interests in the arctic region.
