The 2d Theater Signal Brigade's Spotlight Mr. Shawn M. Banks, IT Specialist (Network) with the Network Enterprise Center – Kaiserslautern, 102d Strategic Signal Battalion.
Mr. Banks provides exemplary C4IM services to more than 12,000 customers on 18 bases in the Kaiserslautern AOR. He ensured a critical software upgrade was installed on 71 KG175Gs and four KG175Xs assigned to the Kaiserslautern NEC. Without the upgrade, the systems would be subject to a reportable COMSEC incident.
He volunteered assist DISA personnel during an ASI, replacing Routing Engines in their MPLS router at Kaiserslautern Army Depot.
Additionally, he assisted the RCC-E Unified Capabilities team to migrate the Sembach Voice Gateways to the new NETMOD infrastructure, a task that required configuring and installing new switches, executing multiple fiber patches across Sembach, and troubleshooting problems between Cisco and Juniper Devices.
