Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) New England played a key role in a recent active shooter exercise conducted at Naval Station Newport. NMRTC's Richard D. Dewert Medical Clinic was not only the site of the training event, but it also provided personnel to play the roles of witnesses and victims at the scene. The NMRTC team added realism and visual stimulation through applications of moulage and other effects to simulate wounds and injuries suffered by personnel participating in the drill.
