U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Dylan Thomas, an infantry Marine, with Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, dismantles an M240B machine gun during a weapon sustainment training aboard the USS Miguel Keith (ESB 5), in the Philippine Sea, Feb. 6, 2024. This training helps develop Marines’ proficiency with machine gun-class weaponry to provide better fire support against heavy enemy infantry or light enemy vehicles. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
