USACE Buffalo District teammates listen intently as Diane Gilbert, Buffalo District Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Peer Supporter, provides information on Personal Readiness formerly called Suicide Prevention during a training session, Cleveland, Ohio, Feb. 5, 2024.
The CISM team is a group of peer supporters like Diane who have undergone special training to assist fellow employees. The team provides information to cope with critical incidents and stress. CISM became a nationwide Corps of Engineers program in 2006 after a three year pilot. Every CISM team member receives training and certification in providing CISM interventions.
