U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Chase Jacks, 110th Wing SFS, receives the Air Medal during a ceremony at Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Michigan on Feb. 2, 2024. Jacks received the medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight as Phoenix Raven, C-17A at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan on August 28. 2021. In a chaotic environment and among a Taliban presence, he efficiently led the passenger screening for over two hundred U.S. Marines and 25 Afghan evacuees, ensuring their safety and the aircraft's security. His composure and skill were pivotal in managing a fuel emergency and maintaining calm among passengers, significantly contributing to the mission's success and reflecting great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
