240113-N-CW190-1086 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Jan. 13, 2024) Damage Controlman 3rd Class Chris Balbuena, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, participates in a freshwater wash down aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd (DDG 100). Freshwater wash downs ensure all exterior spaces are rinsed to prevent salt corrosion. Kidd is assigned to Carrier Strike Group ONE and deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
