U.S. Air National Guard Senior Amn. Robert Preciado, an Aerospace Medical Service Specialist assigned to the 163d Medical Group interacts with the augmented reality system interface during emergency medical technician (EMT) refresher training on March Air Reserve Base in Calif., Jan. 5, 2024. During the EMT training, hosted by the 163d MDG, the North American Rescue Virtual Patient Immersive Trainer (VPIT) acquired by the Hap Arnold Innovation Center (HAIC) was used to enable students to train on multiple patients and trauma scenarios in quick succession. This innovation effort, led by Master Sgt. Joshua Liko (A HAIC volunteer), is one of many projects being propelled by the HAIC to reduce cost, improve workflow efficiency and increase mission output.
