240103-N-PV401-1153 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Jan. 3, 2024) Sailors hold the phone-and-distance (P&D) line aboard Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) during a replenishment-at-sea with Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo ship USNS Carl Brashear (T-AKE 7). The P&D line is used to measure distances between ships while transferring items and fuel. Princeton is assigned to Carrier Strike Group 1 and deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
