U.S. Army Col. YS 85, now in its 43rd iteration, is a trilateral command post exercise featuring the 11th Airborne Division, the Australian Army's 1st Division and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and 11th Airborne Division staff took a chance during the exercise to see more of Hokkaido and conduct in-person reconnaissance to better inform their planning.
