JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO – FORT SAM HOUSTON – (Dec. 4, 2023) – Cmdr. Thomas Sather, assigned to Naval Medical Forces Support Command (NMFSC), donates blood during NMFSC’s Holiday Blood Drive at command headquarters. There is a critical shortage of blood products, and the Akeroyd Blood Donor Center at Fort Sam Houston needs donors immediately. Blood and blood products are used for patients of all ages for many reasons—from cancer patients to those with battlefield injuries, military members and their families depend on blood donors every day. All blood types are needed, and donations of whole blood, plasma and platelets are welcome. NMFSC develops and delivers integrated education and training that produces operational medical experts to project Medical Power in support of Naval Superiority.
