231123-N-CD319-1014 PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 23, 2023) Lt. j.g. Hunter Wilde, from Honolulu, uses a sextant to during a replenishment-at-sea aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110). A sextant is used to measure the angular distance between two visible objects. Lawrence, assigned to Carrier Strike Group ONE, is deployed to U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of free and open Indo-Pacific.
