Every year on Lāčplēsis Day, Latvians light thousands of candles to honor freedom fighters and veterans who died fighting for the country's independence during the First World War. The 3rd Infantry Division’s mission in Europe is to work alongside NATO allies and regional security partners to provide combat-credible forces to V Corps, America’s forward deployed corps in Europe.
