U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Shannon Waller, commanding officer, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA)-115, Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), and Sgt. Maj. Marc Pegram, sergeant major, VMFA-115, MAG-31, 2nd MAW case, their squadron’s colors during a deactivation ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, Nov. 9, 2023. VMFA-115 was deactivated in accordance with Force Design 2030 after 80 years of faithful service. VMFA-115 will relocate to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina and be redesignated as VMFA-115, a subordinate unit of Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 14, for operations as an F-35C Lightning II squadron no later than fiscal year 2027.
