U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Bounthai Chanthala, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Lao linguist augmentee, answers a question during a recovery mission in Laos, September 24, 2023. DPAA linguists are typically military members who speak the the language of the country the recovery mission is located in and serve in a linguist role outside of their normal military occupational specialty.
