Phil Stitzinger, Buffalo District Emergency Management Chief, and Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve returned from serving a year as the the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Emergency Management Program Coordinator and was awarded the Coast Guard Commendation Medal for his outstanding achievement in the performance of duty while he was with the USCG Academy, presented to him by Buffalo District Commander, Lt. Col. Krug at the Buffalo Disrict headquarters, Buffalo, NY, Oct. 11, 2023. In appreciation of the flexibility and support of his U.S. Coast Guard commitments, Phil presented Lt. Col. Krug and Lt.
