U.S. Marines and Sailors assigned to the USS Hershel “Woody” Williams Marine Detachment Civil Affairs and Preventative Medicine Teams conduct a civil engagement with medical staff from the Comorian military in Moroni, Comoros on Sept. 14, 2023. The engagement was conducted to assess the Comorian military’s health capabilities and limitations while examining opportunities for future partnerships. The USS Hershel "Woody" Williams and embarked Marines from II Marine Expeditionary Force, under the tactical command and control of Task Force 61/2, are on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
