    With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Lieutenant Colonel Billie Cartwright's retirement ceremony in Redmond, Oregon, on October 14, marked the end of a notable military Career.

    Lt. Col. Cartwright's journey was defined by not only her unwavering commitment but also her exceptional achievements. She wasn't just a military officer; she was a force to be reckoned with in the realm of sports. Cartwright competed in All-Army Sports and participated in the All-Army Europe Track Championships multiple times, showcasing her physical prowess and determination.

    Among many accomplishments, Lt. Col. Cartwright pursued higher education and graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1995. In 2003, she embarked on a new path, transitioning into a medical career, and became a Physician Assistant. This transition led her to become the physician assistant for the North Carolina National Guard.

    Lt. Col. Cartwright moved to Oregon and served as the Medical Officer for the 82nd Brigade Troop Command. Her leadership and medical acumen has played a pivotal role in ensuring the health and well-being of her comrades.
    When reflecting on her remarkable journey, Cartwright highlighted the people she encountered along the way as the most rewarding aspect of her service.

    "Of the many benefits and experiences in my military career, it's the people who have made it truly special," she noted. Her sentiment was shared at the ceremony by many who had the privilege of working alongside her.

    Maj. Paul Brown, Executive Officer for 1-82 Cav, emphasized the profound impact Lt. Col. Cartwright had on her colleagues and the medical training they undertook.

    "She's been a big part of the Squadron, she was the Squadron PA for a long time. She's been a huge asset to our Soldiers and the medical training we've done; she's been the best PA we've ever worked with."

    Lt. Col. Billie Cartwright's retirement ceremony not only celebrated the end of an exceptional career but also paid tribute to the dedication, service, and lasting impact she had on the lives of those she served and worked with.
