Eight pallets of supplies were dropped from an airplane over the landing zone near Forward Operating Base Lightning, Afghanistan, Dec. 23, 2012. The air-drop was coordinated to resupply the base when roads through the mountainous area became too difficult to travel due to adverse weather. (U.S. Army Photo by Sgt.
