Giuseppe Romanin, describes his experience during the Vajont Damn disaster. Romanin was a Boy Scouts leader from Mestre. He and his group volunteered to help rescue the Vajont Dam victims with their own cars and tools. On October 9th, 1963, a mega-tsunami at the Vajont Dam caused by landslides resulted in one of the worst man-made disasters in history. SETAF-AF provided the first helicopters to assist with recovery efforts, as well as medical supplies and personnel (U.S. Army photo by 1st. Lt. Katherine Sibilla)
