A group of military personnel in digital camouflage uniforms are standing on the deck of a naval vessel, looking out toward a coastal area with calm blue water. The soldiers appear to be observing the shoreline or a port area as the ship approaches or departs. The scene suggests a maritime deployment or amphibious operation.

Marines and Sailors with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) disembark the USS San Antonio (LPD 17) while finishing their group sail exercise, Dec. 18, 2012. The exercise consisted of multiple training scenarios to include visit, board, search, and seizure; different variations of raids; and tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel simulations. The 26th MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force. The MEU is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force capable of conducting amphibious operations, crisis response, and limited contingency operations. The 26th MEU is slated to deploy in 2013.
