Members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) give examples of how to identify an improvised explosive device during minefield self-extraction training to 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division Soldiers during Orient Shield 23 at Kamifurano Training Area, Hokkaido, Japan, September 16, 2023. As a part of this bilateral exercise, the JGSDF has facilitated several stations to provide a diverse set of training exercises to the U.S. Army Soldiers.
