The image is taken from inside the well deck of a naval amphibious assault ship, looking out through the stern gate toward open water. Several amphibious assault vehicles (AAVs) are staged inside the well deck, while at least two landing craft or AAVs are visible operating in the water outside. The scene appears to depict an amphibious operation or training exercise under overcast conditions.
